Crushed Limestone Vs Crushed Granite

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA Lots of people wonder when it is right to use crushed limestone or crushed granite for their landscaping and paving needs.  This mainly comes down to a matter of preference, but there are other factors at work that can help you settle the debate.
Because of the high calcium content, crushed and graded limestone tends to hold to together nicely and for the long term will actually hydrate into a stronger mass. That does not happen with granite.
Both make excellent base materials. Limestone is likely less permeable, because it cements together more ultimately.
Crushed Limestone Austin Rock N Dirt Yard Limestone is far more reactive if you have low ph soils / water, granite is less so. Crushed granite is “decomposed granite” which is highly weathered rock that disintegrates into mainly sand over time. Crushed granite quarry rock that is not decomposed is more competent material.
Many feel that Decomposed Granite is not as good under structures, and prefer only competent, crushed quarry stone. This school of thought means that decomposed granite is used mainly for landscaping over structural needs.
